Self-installing internet is quite easy, but only, if you could find the right guide. However, internet service providers know this well and that’s why they provide a very technical manual inside the self-installation kit. This is why many of them are unable to successfully self-install.
I subscribed to 13 popular internet providers including Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, Optimum, Verizon, etc., and have prepared the easiest self-installation guides for them. Pick your internet provider below and get started.
A lot of people ask me, “Kurt, can I self-install my internet connection or should I opt for the paid/professional installation.” With this article, my intention is to help you decide if you should opt for the professional/paid installation or DIY.
Also, the paid/professional installation costs anywhere between $70-150 depending on the internet service provider and the region. When doing the self-installation, you’ll be spending almost 30-75 minutes depending on how technical you are.
Is it Worth Self-installing or Should You Hire Professional Services?
Since it takes anywhere between 30-75 minutes, should you actually do the installation yourself? One right way to do this is — by calculating your hourly rate. Imagine, if you were doing your normal job or work, would you be able to make more than $70-150? If yes is the answer, then simply OPT for the professional installation. That way, you’re getting a better ROI by investing time in doing the right thing.
However, if you’re not working or are planning to self-install during a non-working day, and can take 30-75 minutes to save $70-150, then there’s nothing wrong. You could simply save that amount and spend it on other things you want to, maybe even get a better ISP compatible-equipment and save on the monthly equipment rental.
So depending on what you could do with the time and money, it is your decision. If you can make more money by putting in that time, then maybe just hire someone and get the installation done. But if you want to save money as well as learn about how the installation process works, then you can continue with the self-installation process.
Is it Easy to Self Install? The Manual Sounds Very Technical
Like I said above, self-installation is quite easy, but internet service providers know this and that’s why the manual provided in the kit is very technical and lacks graphical or images to proceed. But don’t you worry! I’ve self-installed all the popular internet providers in the US and have made easy-to-follow guides.
